Talgar Horseback Trail Adventure

Horseback riding in the picturesque Ormakhai gorge in the Ile Alatau Mountain range.

Geo-Tech Overview

The trip will start from the eco farm by the road through the fields and blooming meadows. You will cross a wide valley and ride in the forest among the Tien-Shan spruces and birch trees and get to the top of the ridge where have a picnic with panoramic views to the upper reaches of Right Talgar Gorge and Talgar Peak – the higest point of Northern Tien-Shan, impressive summits and glaciers located nearby. During the trip you will be assisted by an experienced instructor and guide who will take you through the most beautiful places and tell about local attractions, culture and the role of horses in the life of Nomads.

The horse farm is located near Ryskulovo village in 40 km far from Almaty and has very well-organized territory and friendly staff. After riding the horses, you can have rest in cozy yurt or summer terrace in the garden and taste home made cheese, cream and yogurt. Near the river there is a special place for traditional “Saka” sauna wich can be prepared upon request.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE:

Day 1

– 08:00 – meeting the guide at your place in Almaty, transfer to Eco Farm.
– 09:00 – arrival to the farm and meeting with horses. Short instructions from the guide about safety, features of the route and order of movement in the group.
– 09:30 – start moving along the route by ground road among the apple and apricot gardens. You will take a ride to one of the mountain ridges located close to the farm with observation view point to the summits of Talgar Gorges.
– 13:30 – stop for picnic and rest.
– 14:30 – riding back to the farm.
– 18:00 – arrival to the farm and transfer to Almaty.
– 19:00 – return to Almaty.

Personal clothing and accessories:

– Light functional trekking long pants or leggings;
– T-shirt or light shirt with long sleeve;
– Thermal base layer (depending the season);
– Cap or panama hat;
– Neck gaiter;
– Trekking waterproof boots or similar with a good protector sole and high lacing;
– Membrane or other water and wind resistant jacket;
– Raincoat poncho;
– Warm fleece or polartec jacket;
– High socks;
– Beanie (depending the season);
– Two pairs of gloves (thin and warm, depending the season);
– Water container (1 liter);
– Sunglasses;
– Sunscreen with a high degree of UV protection;
